This is a custom built aftermarket battery upgrade for the CSC City Slicker electric motorcycle.

There are two variations:

  • The first uses brand new cells and has a charging port built into the top of the battery.
  • The second has lightly used battery cells and does not include a separate charge port on top the battery. The Cells measure 98% of the original capacity when bench tested to the manufacturers specifications. They are in excellent health.

You will receive a battery pack very similar to the photos, but it will not be the exact one shown since only a limited number were assembled by hand. The battery pack with new cells will fit all versions of the CSC City Slicker, but the version with used cells and no charge port will only work with versions where the fairing charger port ties into the bike’s wiring harness. Please refer to the photos to confirm which version will fit your motorcycle.

The downsides to this upgrade are loss of battery dash info, and the battery is mounted permanently rather than having a quick release like the original.

The benefits are:

  • Longer range (50+miles)
  • Safer and higher quality cells (cylindrical instead of LiPo pouch)
  • Thermal pads for better thermal management
  • Cell level monitoring and protection via the Bluetooth BMS
  • Active cell balancing
  • High AND low temperature protection for charging and discharging

When installing the upgraded battery I recommend using the app to turn off the “Charge” and “Discharge” functions. Then plug in the large red power plug, then the smaller circle aviation plug. Then turn on the “Charge” and “Discharge” switches in the app and the battery will be armed. This process is to prevent sparking at the terminals.

Once the battery is connected, charge it fully, then turn off the “Charge” and “Discharge” functions again for at least 30 seconds. Then turn them on again. This is done so that the motor controller will “wake up” with the highest voltage the pack can deliver and consequently increase top speed to 52mph.

The range from this battery pack is a minimum of 50 miles. That was the distance achieved with aggressive riding, at mostly full throttle, with a 170lb rider. The last 5 miles will be quite sluggish, with a top speed around 25mph. A phone can be mounted to the handlebars if you want to monitor the battery info while riding.

The best Apps to monitor battery details over Bluetooth are BAT-BMS, and XiaoXiang-Electric. I have already adjusted the protection parameters and capacity settings, but if you would like to adjust those then I recommend the Overkill Solar app, as the first two apps are mostly for monitoring. These all work fine on Android, but I have not personally tested them on an iPhone.

The battery is water resistant, but not waterproof. It will be fine in regular use and riding through rain, but don’t submerge it or spray it down with a hose.
